Slate is a natural stone product which, when properly applied, can create some of the most beautiful flooring treatments both indoors and out. Although most people use slate in the kitchen, bathroom and entrance, you'll find that it is also a very suitable candidate for use in the living room as well. Personally, I always lean towards hardwood flooring because tile tends to be cold and uninviting but slate is definitly an exception to the rule. Unlike ceramic, slate has unique natural properties that exude warmth and character. Slate is not only durable but also moisture and stain resistant, inexpensive in comparison to marble and granite and although it looks very smooth, is deceptively hard.
